Jenny Abernathy serves as Chief People Officer for CRST, The Transportation Solution, Inc. In this role, she oversees and supports the people and talent strategies for the enterprise, focusing on ensuring CRST is the employer of choice for employees and drivers across the nation.
Jenny was appointed Chief People Officer in 2022 after joining CRST in 2015 as Vice President of Capacity Development. During her time at CRST, she has helped shape recruitment and career placement strategies for both company drivers and independent contractors – supporting all business units and their fleets. Jenny has also played a key role in transforming CRST’s driver recruitment marketing strategies –integrating the company’s paid digital and lead generation efforts.
With expertise in talent management and leadership development, Jenny has unified the recruitment and marketing strategies of several of CRST’s operating companies, managed partnerships with driver training schools across the nation, and established CRST’s Driver Career Path Team, assisting drivers in aligning career goals to opportunities within CRST.
Prior to joining CRST, Jenny spent 13 years at Target Corporation, in positions of increasing responsibility including store leadership and multi-unit operational roles.
Jenny is active in the transportation industry. She serves on the Foundation Board for Next Generation in Trucking Association and on the Advisory Council for the American Trucking Association’s (ATA) Women in Motion Council. She is also a 2021 graduate of LEAD ATA. Jenny graduated from the University of Iowa and resides with her husband and two daughters in Cedar Rapids, IA.
