The Next Generation in Trucking Association (NGT) is hosting a Train the Trainer experience at Patterson High School, home to one of the most established and respected high school CDL and Supply Chain & Logistics programs in the country. This immersive, in‑person training is designed for educators and administrators who want to build, strengthen, or launch high‑quality trucking and logistics pathways for high school students.

This is not a conference or lecture-style event. It is a hands-on, real-world professional development experience led by educators who are actively running a successful high school program.

Participants will:

  • Learn directly from Dave Dein, Patterson High School CDL Coordinator, 2025 California CTE Teacher of the Year and Region V CTE Teacher of the Year, and creator of the NGT Curriculum
  • Gain practical guidance on program setup and launch, including advisory boards and industry engagement
  • Explore curriculum and classroom instruction strategies aligned with ELDT standards
  • Experience simulator integration and understand how simulation supports student safety and skill development
  • Tour the full Patterson High School Supply Chain & Logistics Pathway
  • Network with educators, administrators, and instructors from across the country

All participants will receive an NGT Train the Trainer Certificate of Professional Development Recognition.

About the Host Program: Patterson High School

Patterson High School is widely recognized as a national model for high school trucking and logistics education. Their program integrates classroom instruction, hands‑on training, industry partnerships, and career readiness to prepare students for post‑secondary training and employment.

This Train the Trainer gives you a behind‑the‑scenes look at how the program operates—from curriculum and equipment to partnerships and student engagement.

High-Level Agenda Overview

Day 1: Building & Operating a High-Quality High School CDL Program

Day one focuses on the foundations of launching and sustaining a successful high school trucking and logistics program. Participants will explore how Patterson High School built its model, with emphasis on curriculum design, program structure, and industry alignment.

Key focus areas include:

  • Program development and launch guidance
  • Advisory board creation and industry partnerships
  • Entry-Level Driver Training (ELDT) standards
  • Recruiting and marketing strategies for high school programs
  • Curriculum and classroom instruction, including early-week lesson ideas
  • The Patterson program model, including Worklete, TruckFit, and NGT curriculum resources
  • Field trips, guest speakers, and job fair implementation

The day concludes with networking and peer discussion during a hosted dinner.

Day 2: Simulation, Student Perspective & Implementation

Day two emphasizes hands-on learning and real-world application, giving participants direct exposure to tools and experiences they can adapt for their own schools.
