Lincoln Technical Institute | Instructor: Patrick Hoisington | Diesel Technician
We’re proud to recognize Jessica McDonald as this month’s Student of the Month for her dedication, work ethic, and passion for the diesel industry.
Jessica’s journey into diesel technology was inspired early on by her father, a diesel mechanic. That foundation sparked her interest in understanding diesel engine construction and how these powerful machines operate—an interest that has grown into a clear career path.
Currently enrolled in the Mobile Heavy Truck program at Lincoln Tech, Jessica is also advancing her knowledge through online coursework with the Caterpillar Technician for the World program. Her commitment to learning and continuous improvement sets her apart.
Before entering the diesel field, Jessica was a competitive powerlifter—an experience that clearly translates into her discipline, determination, and drive to succeed in a traditionally male-dominated industry.
Her strong academic performance and excellent attendance have earned her recognition and the opportunity to be considered for additional training with the Peterbilt Technical Institute upon graduation.
Her instructor shared:
“Jessica has the drive and energy to learn as much as she can about the industry.”
In reflecting on the importance of training the next generation, her instructor also noted:
“As a Lead Diesel Instructor, I strive to instruct students on what they need to know to be successful. With today’s technology, we have the tools to prepare them for meaningful careers in the trucking industry.”
When asked what advice she would give to others, Jessica emphasized:
👉 “Be prepared to learn and keep an open mind.”
Jessica McDonald represents the future of the diesel technician workforce—motivated, capable, and ready to take on the challenges of the industry. We look forward to seeing all she accomplishes in the years ahead.
👏 Congratulations, Jessica!
